How to Complete a DIY Project without Hubby Taking Over:

 A Guide to a Woman’s Independence.

It’s no secret; men LOVE to play with tools.  When it comes time for us ladies to complete projects on our own, our men love to be quick to offer any assistance.  Sometimes this is out of kindness, but sometimes it’s because they think they’re more equipped to do the job than we are.  If you want to complete a project on your own and know that you don’t need any assistance, here is how it can be done without hurting feelings on either end.

First, be open with your husband about the project you’re taking on.  Tell him how important it is that you start and finish the project without his interference.  Say that you want it to be a learning experience for you, and you want to handle every aspect of the job.  Let him know that you won’t be taking on a job that is too big for one person to handle, and if you do need help, you’ll be the one to ask for it, but it doesn’t need to be offered.

Sometimes guys just feel left out.  Suggest that while you’re doing your project, he can do one of his own.  Just make sure you don’t both have DIY tasks that require a lot of the same tools, that is, unless each of you has your own set, which is what we’re promoting for ladies here at Ladies Tools Online.  A set of tools to call your very own will make hunting for that screwdriver a thing of the past.

So ladies, it is possible to do a job yourself.  It’s a fantastic learning experience and the feeling of pride afterwards is overwhelming.  If you’re wondering what kind of jobs you can try that don’t usually require the help of another person, I’ve tackled a few small home projects and didn’t need anyone’s assistance.  Some examples are:

Refinishing old trim: removing it, sanding it, patching it, re-staining and re-applying.

Painting: it’s easy for one person to paint walls and ceilings.

Window Treatments: hanging curtains and blinds are simple tasks that really make a room come together.

Installing shelves: we all like shelves to hold our knickknacks, and the only assistance you need to make sure it’s perfect is the help of a level.

Those are just a few super easy tasks for the beginner DIY woman.  The list doesn’t end until you’ve reached your limit, so take on any project your heart desires!  Happy Tasking!
