Using tools as weapons in desperate times can be effective.  Although if you ever feel like you’re in danger, you should call the authorities.  A hammer can be used as a weapon if needed, just swing away.  Also, when it comes to car safety, your tire iron can also be used for self-protection.  This is usually kept in your trunk, along with your spare tire and jack, but if you ever feel unsafe, keep it behind the driver’s seat for easy reach.  If you’re walking to your car and it’s dark and you’re alone (which you should always avoid doing if possible) you can put your car key between your pointer and middle finger.  If someone were to come up from behind, you can jab them with the key between your fingers.  It sounds awful, but more and more driver’s education courses are teaching these helpful hints to stay safe.  There’s a saying that “anything is a weapon if you hold it right.”  Stay safe in your new environment.
